Product Releases: February 2026
From smarter data exports to public surveys and appraisal comments, February's updates make Zal easier to manage across every part of your organization.
February was a big month for usability, data management, and feedback flexibility. From a redesigned inbox and standardized tables to the first iteration of Public Surveys, here's a breakdown of what we shipped, organized by feature.
📊 Data & User Management
-
Easier data export: A new download button on the User Index page lets you export employee data with one click. Exports now include each employee's promotion date and department.
-
User table upgrades: You can now filter out inactive users by default across user tables, reports, reviews, and more. The roles dropdown is now alphabetical and searchable, and editing a user now displays their full name prominently.
-
New HR Admin overview page: HR Admins now have a high-level overview page summarizing all employees, their goals, and their manager's approval status at a glance.
-
Improved HR Admin controls: HR Admins can now update an employee's role up to HR level directly from the platform.
📝 Reviews & Appraisals
-
Review & team management fixes: Resolved an issue where reviews in draft mode with only one section couldn't be submitted. The "My Teams" reviews page now includes pagination so you can browse all results.
-
Expanded appraisal download options: Admins can now download performance appraisals for reviews with an "Acknowledged" status, in addition to "Published" — making audits and internal documentation easier.
-
Employee performance appraisal comments: Employees can now leave a comment when acknowledging their performance appraisal, supporting more transparent communication.
-
Renamed "Grading" to "Rating": All references to "Grade" or "Grading Scale" have been updated to "Rating" or "Rating Scale" for consistency across the platform.
📋 Surveys & Feedback
-
Public Surveys (first release): You can now send public surveys to anyone — not just employees. Surveys can be made anonymous for participant privacy, and respondents see a clear confirmation page upon completion.
-
Pages & sections in QA surveys: QA surveys now support multiple pages and sections, providing more flexibility in how surveys are structured and organized.
-
Chat survey auto-start: After finishing a Q&A survey, the chat survey now starts automatically with an improved flow and countdown transition.
-
Mobile survey improvements: The survey selection page layout has been improved for better readability on mobile, with faster page loads and a less zoomed-in information entry experience.
🎯 Goals
- "At Risk" relabeled to "Unapproved": The "At Risk" goal status is now correctly labeled as "Unapproved" to better reflect its purpose.
🗂️ Tables & Filters
-
Standardized tables and filters: Searching, sorting, and filtering now work consistently across the entire platform. Page filters have a unified design for a smoother, more intuitive experience.
-
QA results dashboard fixes: Filters on the QA results dashboard now work properly, and the dashboard correctly displays results when there are more than 5 survey responses.
⚡ Platform & Performance
-
Admin impersonation: Super admins (and admins, where permitted) can now impersonate users directly from the user table, streamlining troubleshooting and support.
-
Password reset experience: Expired password reset links now display a clear message: "Link expired, request a new link."
-
AI draft generation stability: Fixed an issue where AI draft generation for performance reviews could time out, making generation more reliable.
-
Chat send button: Similar to Slack, the send icon now becomes active and highlighted once you start typing.
-
Default demand fix: Switching roles while on the "Demand" tab now loads the correct demand items automatically.
