Your quick-start guide to navigating Zal.ai

Welcome to Zal.ai! This article will help you understand how the platform works and where to go based on your role.

What is Zal.ai?

Zal.ai is a performance management platform that helps organizations run effective performance reviews, track goals, capture feedback, and hold meaningful 1:1 conversations. The platform uses AI to generate performance review drafts based on data collected throughout the year.

Your Command Center: The Inbox

When you first log in, you'll land in your Inbox. Think of this as your command center—it surfaces everything that needs your attention, from outstanding tasks and review deadlines to meeting reminders and important updates.

You can filter your inbox by notification type or status, and sort by date, title, and more to quickly find what you're looking for. Click on any item to open it in the main view and take action.

Want a broader view of what's ahead? Switch to Calendar View to see deadlines for active review cycles and upcoming meetings. Toggle between week and month views to understand what's coming up.

Main Navigation

The main navigation on the left side of your screen allows you to access key areas of the platform. Click the menu icon at the top of the navigation bar to expand the view.

Depending on your role, you'll have access to different features:

All Users:

  • Inbox – Your tasks, notifications, and calendar
  • Goals – Create and track your SMART goals
  • Feedback – Your brag sheet and accomplishments
  • Meetings – View meetings and capture notes
  • Reviews – Your review tasks and published reviews

Managers Also See:

  • My Team's Goals – Approve and monitor team goals
  • My Team's Feedback – View feedback about direct reports
  • My Team's Appraisals – Manage performance reviews

Admins Also See:

  • Settings – User management, departments, grading scales
  • Review Cycles – Create and manage review cycles

Getting Help
