After publishing a performance review, schedule a meeting to discuss the results with your direct report. This article provides guidance for an effective review conversation.

Before the Meeting

  1. Publish the review so your direct report can read it beforehand.
  2. Schedule a meeting using MeetingsMeeting Planner.
  3. Select the "Performance Review Conversation" meeting type if available.
  4. Prepare talking points for each section of the review.

During the Conversation

  • Start with a check-in – how is the employee feeling?
  • Share the overall rating and context
  • Discuss strengths and specific accomplishments
  • Review growth areas constructively
  • Set goals for the next review period
  • Answer questions and address concerns
  • Ask the employee to acknowledge the review
